About Us

Welcome to our new law school, where we are dedicated to providing a comprehensive legal education that prepares you for success in the legal profession, whether you are new to the profession or at partner level.

Where we started

The school took its first steps in 2020 with our Chief Learning Officer, Bernadette imaging a law school that was designed for the future of law and not stuck in the systems of the past. As an MBA graduate and doctoral researcher, Bernadette developed a system of learning that uses theory and reflective practices to inform and develop experiences. Bernadette had previously run her own successful and award-winning law firm where her strengths had been the development of new and junior staff, many of whom have gone to start their own law practices. A published academic who has travelled to USA and Europe to discuss her methods, Bernadette has devised lots of training and workshops and used these to develop her ideas about how lawyers learn in practice and how different this is from the traditional law school providers.

Where we are headed

Our mission is to equip our students with the knowledge, skills, and values necessary to become ethical, effective and reflective lawyers. At the School of Legal Education, we have assembled a team of experienced trainers and facilitators who are passionate about the business of law and committed to helping all lawyers reach their full potential.

We offer a rigorous and diverse curriculum that exposes lawyers at all to a broad range of legal topics and challenges them to think critically and creatively about legal issues.

We have divided our programs into four areas: managers/partners and law firm owners; trainees and those undertaking SQE; paralegal and new entrants; and law for non-lawyers.

Our program includes traditional classroom instruction, as well as practical learning opportunities such as internships, externships, and clinics that allow our members to gain hands-on experience in a real-world legal setting. We believe in experiential and reflective learning where the theory is delivered in such a way that it makes sense.

Our law school is also committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive community that values diversity, equity, and inclusion. We believe that diversity enhances the quality of legal education and enriches the legal profession as a whole, and we strive to create an environment where all students feel welcomed and valued. We offer flexible entrance dates and a variety pf course levels where there is intersection between groups of learners, as this increases knowledge sharing and networking opportunities.
